When to use reverse GST
Vendor invoice
Bill shows ₹11,800 total without a clear breakup — reverse calc gives ₹10,000 base + ₹1,800 GST at 18%.
MRP / retail price
Product MRP ₹590 (incl. 18% GST) → base ₹500 and GST ₹90 for margin checks.
ITC / purchase register

Price negotiation
Negotiate on taxable value only; reverse calculator separates tax from the quoted inclusive price.

FAQ
Reverse GST FAQs
What is reverse GST calculation?+
It finds the taxable value (base amount) when you only know the GST-inclusive total — e.g. ₹11,800 inclusive of 18% GST → base ₹10,000 + GST ₹1,800.
When should I use CGST+SGST vs IGST?+
CGST+SGST applies to intra-state supplies (same state). IGST applies to inter-state supplies. The total GST amount is the same; only the split changes.
What is the formula?+
Base amount = Total inclusive ÷ (1 + GST% ÷ 100). Example: ₹11,800 ÷ 1.18 = ₹10,000 at 18% GST.
Is this the same as the homepage GST calculator?+
Yes — same math. This page focuses on removing GST from a total. The homepage calculator also adds GST to a base amount.
